Despite her MIT diploma in electrical engineering, Edith was not in a position to locate function. Edith then went to operate for General Electric (GE) as a supervisor of computers in the Turbine Engineering Department. In 1943, Edith Clarke wrote an influential textbook in the subject of ability engineering, Circuit Analysis of A-C Power Systems, based on her notes for lectures to General Electric engineers.
