The acquisition of Pennsylvania-based mostly commuter airline Ransome Airlines for $65 million (which was finalized in 1987) was meant to handle the situation of delivering supplemental feed for Pan Am's mainline providers at its hubs in New York, Los Angeles and Miami in the United States, and Berlin in Germany.
