Cashing in on the travel-in achievement of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974), The Toolbox Murders was swiftly and cheaply shot but did not generate the interest of the former movies. Gialli were being preferred in American cinemas and generate-in theaters. Much like Krimi movies, gialli plots tended to be outlandish and unbelievable, once in a while using supernatural things.
