The most frequent tree indigenous to Iceland is the northern birch (Betula pubescens), which previously fashioned forests above considerably of Iceland, together with aspens (Populus tremula), rowans (Sorbus aucuparia), common junipers (Juniperus communis), and other smaller trees, generally willows.
