In 2013 Freedom Communications, owner of the Orange County Register, introduced a 5-day each day newspaper, the Long Beach Register, aimed at competing with the Press-Telegram. The Press-Telegram is owned by Digital First Media and is portion of the Los Angeles Newspaper Group, which has a number of newspapers in the Southern California location which share means and reporters.
