In 2013 Freedom Communications, proprietor of the Orange County Register, introduced a 5-working day every day newspaper, the Long Beach Register, aimed at competing with the Press-Telegram. The Press-Telegram is owned by Digital First Media and is aspect of the Los Angeles Newspaper Group, which has several newspapers in the Southern California place which share assets and reporters.
