In 2013 Freedom Communications, owner of the Orange County Register, released a 5-day everyday newspaper, the Long Beach Register, aimed at competing with the Press-Telegram. The Press-Telegram is owned by Digital First Media and is section of the Los Angeles Newspaper Group, which has many newspapers in the Southern California region which share assets and reporters. Long Beach is portion of the Los Angeles DMA radio and tv markets.
