A nanoprobe of Picasso's The Red Armchair (1931), in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago, by physicists at Argonne National Laboratory in 2012 verified artwork historians' perception that Picasso employed popular residence paint in several of his paintings. The series was expanded further more in July 2012 to fifty two episodes.
