On 16 July 390 BC, a Gallic military under the management of tribal chieftain Brennus, met the Romans on the banking companies of the Allia River 10 miles north of Rome. The town of Rome grew from settlements all over a ford on the river Tiber, a crossroads of traffic and trade. This brought about a challenge, in that Rome came to have a large male inhabitants but was bereft of gals.
