In The Mask of Sanity, below a subsection entitled "Not as solitary spies but in battalions", and further in depth in the appendix, Cleckley describes a survey he and some others carried out concerning 1937 and 1939 at a substantial federal Veterans Administration (VA) medical center on the southeastern seaboard, wherever he labored as 1 of the psychiatrists for the ex-services adult males who were primarily veterans of World War I.
