Costume designer Dorothy Jeakins, who worked with DeMille on The Ten Commandments (1956), claimed that he was expert in humiliating persons. He was additional nominated in the Best Picture class for The Ten Commandments at the 1957 Academy Awards. In 1954, Secretary of the Air Force Harold E. Talbott requested DeMille for assist in creating the cadet uniforms at the recently recognized United States Air Force Academy.
