In flight, most other large North American Buteo spp. Standard pale juveniles when perched present a whitish patch in the outer fifty percent of the upper floor of the wing, which other juvenile Buteo spp. More complicated to identify among adult pink-tails are their darkest variants, as most species of Buteo in North America also have dim morphs.
