The original title cards for Caligari showcased stylized, misshapen lettering with abnormal underlinings, exclamation factors and sometimes archaic spellings. The primary title cards ended up tinted in environmentally friendly, steely-blue and brown. Many modern prints of the movie do not preserve the original lettering.
