This was intentional to clearly show how ambiguous these instances are when it is really only he stated/she stated (The episode went out of its way to include proof for equally sides and gave equally of them moments that built them untrustworthy.) They afterwards held an on the internet poll to see how men and women would have ruled if they had been on the jury: Not Guilty was the winner.
