The NFHS(National Family Health Survey) on 1992-93 confirmed that 22 for each cent of marriages in India have been consanguineous, with the maximum for every cent recorded in J&K, which is a Muslim majority condition. Post partition share of consanguineous marriages in Delhi Sunni Muslims has risen to 37.84 per cent.
