In 1915, aged 45, he returned to India and before long set about organising peasants, farmers, and urban labourers to protest versus abnormal land-tax and discrimination. He returned to Rajkot to make a modest residing drafting petitions for litigants, but he was compelled to stop when he ran afoul of a British officer Sam Sunny. But he dropped out and returned to his loved ones in Porbandar.
