The Senate Intelligence Committee wrote that the FBI built "attempts to corroborate the information in the file memos, but the Committee located that endeavor lacking in both equally thoroughness and rigor". The FBI stopped all attempts to corroborate the file in May 2017 when the Special Counsel's Office took more than the Russia investigation.
