This prototype, built on a shell of an additional digital fact headset, was only capable of rotational tracking. In early 2014, Valve confirmed off their SteamSight prototype, the precursor to both of those customer headsets released in 2016. It shared major capabilities with the shopper headsets together with separate 1K shows for every eye, low persistence, positional tracking more than a large region, and fresnel lenses.
