In his 1637 reserve Dioptrique French thinker, mathematician and scientist René Descartes proposed placing an eye of a recently lifeless male (or if a useless man was unavailable, the eye of an ox) into an opening in a darkened home and scraping away the flesh at the again until finally a person could see the inverted image fashioned on the retina.
