It is drawn from Saint Bede's homily on Matthew 9:9-13: "since he saw him by means of the eyes of mercy and chose him". He was regarded to be devoted to St. Thérèse of Lisieux, and he enclosed a little picture of her in the letters he wrote, contacting her "a good missionary saint". It was nominated for two Visual Effects Society Awards in the types of "Best Effects Art Direction in a Motion Picture" and "Best Compositing in a Motion Picture".
