Lollapalooza was conceived and developed in 1991 as a farewell tour by Perry Farrell, singer of the team Jane's Addiction. Farrell, Ted Gardner, Don Muller, and Marc Geiger conceived the competition in 1990 as a farewell for Farrell's band Jane's Addiction.
