Most of the well known Buddha statues in Japan are not Shakyamuni: the wonderful out of doors bronze Buddha at Kamakura is Amida, and the Buddha enshrined in the Tôdaiji ("Great Eastern") Temple in Nara (the greatest picket constructing in the entire world), is a different Buddha named Locana.
