On April 8, 2015, Smith mentioned that Mallrats two would in its place be his next film: "we were being chatting about to begin with shooting 'Clerks III' this summer months and then we have been going to get to 'Mallrats' in the beginning of 2016. And then it jumped into 2015, where we ended up going to shoot 'Clerks' and then ideally 'Mallrats' in advance of the conclude of the year.
