Beginning in 2009 and continuing via March 2011, when Haletown, Tennessee, received assistance from EPB's fiber optic network, EPB commenced to create its unique fiber optic community to its 600 sq mi (1,600 km2) support location, which covers the better Chattanooga Metropolitan Statistical Area.
