The present is a visceral mix of diverse influences and tones - from film noir to Sergio Leone Westerns to Bruce Lee to Star Trek and Wars - but someway by no means feels like a mishmash, and is held with each other by lovely animation, very well-drawn figures (in several senses), and a masterful jazz score by Yoko Kanno.
