In 2007, the Ida B. Wells Association was established by University of Memphis philosophy graduate learners to encourage discussion of philosophical troubles arising from the African-American knowledge and to give a context in which to mentor undergraduates. However, she dropped the presidency of the National Association of Colored Women in 1924 to the far more diplomatic Mary Bethune.
