On December 18, Reddit took a criticized action of banning a subreddit, "SonyGOP", that was staying employed to distribute hacked Sony files. Reddit normal supervisor Martin later issued an apology for this actions, criticizing the "on line witch hunts and harmful speculation" that took place on the web site.
