A 20-calendar year-outdated St Helens male was prosecuted on 10 February 2009 for possessing "serious" visuals involving girls and animals. The legislation arrived into force on 26 January 2009. In July 2009, Baroness O'Cathain proposed an amendment to the Coroners and Justice Act which would provide in an equivalent law for "serious pornographic writings".
