In 2008, a team of experts led by Stephen Wroe performed an experiment to establish the terrific white shark's jaw electric power and results indicated that a specimen massing 3,324 kg (7,328 lb) could exert a chunk force of 18,216 newtons (4,095 lbf). The local climate is arid in the Great Basin, desert in the Southwest, Mediterranean in coastal California, and oceanic in coastal Oregon and Washington and southern Alaska.
