Luttrell, together with several other Navy SEAL veterans, acted as technical advisors during the production. In addition, senior navy advisor Harry Humphries, a former Navy SEAL who had worked with Berg on Hancock and The Kingdom, served as an associate producer. He acted as a marketing consultant, detailing to Berg his eyewitness account of the events that unfolded throughout Operation Red Wings.
