In 1993 the City Council of Steamboat Springs, Colorado, executed a poll of people to pick out a new title for the bridge that crossed the Yampa River on Shield Drive. Brown returned to Steamboat Springs, Colorado, on July 4, 2002, for an out of doors competition, undertaking with bands these as The String Cheese Incident. The group was joined by Bootsy Collins on bass, with MC Hammer doing a dance in James Brown design.
