What would it say about our determination to liberal principles if individuals of us who never belong to communities in which guns have these meanings (and in simple fact are puzzled by them) refused to accept (or just could not see the two are connected) that individuals who do belong to them understandably see many sorts of gun manage as expressing hostility and contempt for their values?
