The area of the visible cortex that receives the sensory input from the lateral geniculate nucleus is the first visual cortex, also called visible space 1 (V1), Brodmann area 17, or the striate cortex. Sensory enter originating from the eyes travels via the lateral geniculate nucleus in the thalamus and then reaches the visible cortex.
