Although the arrival of film as an artistic medium is not plainly described, the industrial, general public screening of ten of the Lumière brothers' brief films in Paris on 28 December 1895 can be regarded as the breakthrough of projected cinematographic movement pictures. The screening consisted of ten films and lasted about 20 minutes.
