Like the King James Version of the Bible and the works of Shakespeare, many words and phrases from the Book of Common Prayer have entered prevalent parlance. Between then and 1764, when a far more official revised edition was published, a range of items transpired which had been to separate the Scottish Episcopal liturgy far more firmly from either the English textbooks of 1549 or 1559.
