Costume designer Dorothy Jeakins, who worked with DeMille on The Ten Commandments (1956), mentioned that he was skilled in humiliating persons. He was further nominated in the Best Picture category for The Ten Commandments at the 1957 Academy Awards. In 1954, Secretary of the Air Force Harold E. Talbott asked DeMille for support in coming up with the cadet uniforms at the freshly proven United States Air Force Academy.
