In 1915, aged 45, he returned to India and before long established about organising peasants, farmers, and urban labourers to protest versus too much land-tax and discrimination. He returned to Rajkot to make a modest dwelling drafting petitions for litigants, but he was compelled to halt when he ran afoul of a British officer Sam Sunny. But he dropped out and returned to his household in Porbandar.
