Planet Spaceball, led by the incompetent President Skroob, has squandered all of its clean air. When the vacuum bag is pretty much comprehensive, Lone Starr employs the Schwartz to reverse the vacuum, blowing the air back again onto the earth. Yogurt later teaches Lone Starr about the metaphysical electric power recognized as "the Schwartz", and offers him a ring which can be used to management the "Upside" of the Schwartz.
