I really don't mind it if it would make sense to me, either within just the context of the movie or as some kind of analogue to the action/characters’ emotions, and so forth. It appears that there are way too lots of movies now where it appears like it is merely a lazy way of adding visual pleasure (or probably I’m just also lazy to figure out what the heck the director had in thoughts).
