Harrison was elected in November 1888 in excess of President Cleveland. Foraker took a foremost part as a speaker in the campaign, and the November election resulted in victory for Bushnell and a Republican greater part in the legislature. It was not until February 21 that Bushnell finally introduced Hanna's appointment, powerful upon Sherman's resignation.
