After the Nestorian schism the bishops of Seleucia appropriated it as the exclusive title of the head of the Nestorian neighborhood. This title is used by Procopius (ii, 25) for the head of the Persian Church and in the long run grew to become the perquisite of the Bishop of Seleucia.
